Don was born in Laurel, Montana, on June 20, 1933, to Jack and Doris Taylor. They moved to the Shields Valley and lived in various places in Park County. In 1945, they moved to the Shelhammer place at Chadbourne, where the Taylor Ranch still exists. He attended Cowan Grade School, graduated from Clyde Park High School, went to Rocky Mountain College Trade School in Billings for 2 years and then joined the Air Force. He then returned home and worked on the ranch with his parents. In 1968, he married Lila Kirk and they moved to Alaska. Don died from a heart attack on May 23, 2021. He was cremated and his ashes were scattered in the Alaskan mountains, where he and his family had spent many happy hours, camping, rock hunting, riding motorcycles and argos. He is survived by his wife, Lila - his sons, Don Jr., Jack and Burt of Alaska, his daughter, Doris of Washington state and 3 grandsons. He is also survived by his brother, Jim Taylor on the home ranch, his sister, Irene Croston in Iowa and his sister, Judy Taylor in North Carolina. -- “Brother, I will meet you in the morning.
