Brook Russell earns District 11C 1st Team honors

Shields Valley junior Brook Russell was acknowledged for her efforts on the hardwood after making the 2017 1st Team All-Conference for District 11C earlier this week. 

Junior Jen Fairchild and  sophomore Molly Engle each received 2nd Team All-Conference honors for the Lady Rebels who finished the regular season 11-6 overall and 6-4 in league. 

Megan Wickham made the 2nd Team All-Conference for the Gardiner Lady Bruins.

Blitzkrieg team wins at Bozeman Invite

Following the state wrestling tournament and the official end of the prep wrestling season, the Blitzkrieg Wrestling Club provides an opportunity for young wrestlers to stay on the mats. 

Park High Rangers Aden Rogge (Cadet 113) and Brendan Gill (Cadet 138) each won their respective weight class for Blitzkrieg to take first place in the medium team category on Saturday at the Battle for the Bone in Bozeman.

Arlee High School hails from the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes Reservation, and according to locals, there are four main activities on the reservation: basketball, cross-country, rodeo and pow-wow. 

For Arlee head coach Zanen Pitts, junior Phillip Malatare and so many other young native men, basketball is life. 

And it shows.

Kyndal Pierson accepts track and field scholarship to Carroll College

Just as the Park High girls basketball regular season came to an end, but before outdoor track and field begins, Rangers’ senior Kyndal Pierson is already inking plans for next year.

Pierson, alongside her parents Scott and Melissa Evje, PHS activities director Regina Wood and track and field coach Nathan Wulf, signed her official letter of intent on Monday morning at Park High School, accepting a full-athletic scholarship to Carroll College in Helena.

Blitzkrieg takes second at Road Kill Classic

Braydon Munier, Gage McGillray and Trae DeSaveur each took first place in their respective weight classes for Blitzkreig Wrestling, a local youth wrestling club, on Saturday at the Road Kill Classic wrestling tournament in Columbus.

Munier won in the Tot (age six and under) class at 50-pounds after pinning Tucker Lamping of East Helena Wrestling Club in one minute and 38 seconds.
