Emter wins in disc at Top 10 meet

The Top 10 meet in Laurel, where athletes with 10 best performances in each event within a 150-mile radius of Billings — regardless of classification — are invited to compete against the best of the best, was held Tuesday afternoon and five Park High athletes were invited to compete in individual events in addition to the girls’ 4x400 relay team.

After playing in two large tournaments last weekend, the Park High tennis team faced Belgrade and Fergus on Saturday in two head-to-head matches, and the Park girls picked up two more wins as a team, maintaining their perfect record against other Central Division teams.

In addition to the girls team remaining undefeated, the team’s No. 1 singles player, Emilee Coleman, also maintained her perfect record.

Havre sweeps Park in doubleheader

Traveling to Havre on Saturday for a doubleheader, the Park High softball team lost both games to the Blue Ponies. The Rangers lost a one-run game in the opener — 8-7 — then lost 13-6 in the finale.

“In the first game, we made some mental mistakes on the bases,” said head coach Sean Daem. “They turned a lot of double plays that were bang-bang plays. There were just a lot of close plays that didn’t go our way (that) went Havre’s way.

Speas sets school record in pole vault

The Park High track and field team competed at the John Tomich Invitational in Butte on Saturday, and in addition to first-place finishes by Rangers Devin Nelson, Jerrica Martin and Lauren Emter, Alexi Speas set a school record in the pole vault at 9-00 while also finishing first in the event.

Braves win all four weekend games, start season winning five out of six

The Livingston Braves pounded both Bozeman and Butte in a pair of weekend doubleheaders, winning all four games by comfortable margins while improving their season record to 5-1 after the first two weekends.

The Braves split their season-opening doubleheader against Dillon, then had games against Billings canceled because of rain the following day.

Higgs, Gavne throw no-hitters against Browning

Park High starting pitchers Sierra Higgs and Paige Gavne didn’t allow a single hit over two games during a doubleheader against Browning in Livingston on Saturday. Granted, the pair had to pitch only five out of 14 potential innings over those two games because the Ranger bats drove in 20 runs in the first game and 17 in the next to end the games in the second and third innings, respectively.

Braves split doubleheader with Cubs; Sunday’s games postponed for rain

The Livingston Braves got to play their first games of the American Legion Class A baseball season on Saturday with a doubleheader against the Dillon Cubs. 

While the Braves got the best of the Cubs in the first game, they couldn’t complete the sweep, losing in the second game.

Braves split exhibition games, season-opener gets rescheduled

The Livingston Braves are on the verge of starting their 2016 season, and in order to get up to full speed for opening day, they traveled to Great Falls for two exhibition games with the Outlaws on Sunday. 

The teams split the two games, with the Outlaws winning the first game 7-5. Then the Braves turned it around to win the second game 13-2.
