Jean L. Barry, 96, lifelong resident of Livingston, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016, at her home with her family at her side. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 7 at the Franzen-Davis Chapel with Sandy Williams as the Celebrant. A time for fellowship will follow the service at the funeral home, with graveside committal and burial then following at Mountain View Cemetery.

Charlotte Renee (Rogers) Mickus

Charlotte Renee (Rogers) Mickus, 59, of Pray, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016, with her husband, Dave, by her side.

Cremation has taken place at Franzen-Davis Crematory. A celebration of Renee’s life will be held at a later date.

Renee was born on Dec. 21, 1956, in Yuma, Arizona. She was the daughter of Charles and Rae (Gilbert) Rogers. She received her education in Yuma, attending Yuma High School.

In June of 1988, Renee was united in marriage to Dave Mickus. They shared 28 years of marriage.

Roundup Rodeo announcer to receive recognition for 68th rodeo

Livingston Roundup Rodeo announcer Louis Armentaro was named “Montanan of the Week” as part of Cogressman Steve Daine’s campaign.

Over the weekend, Daines will honor Armentaro as he announces for his 68th Roundup Rodeo, according to a Daines press release.

Armentaro became an announcer after getting back from World War II in 1949. Before that, he ran audio while serving in the Special Services in Japan for theatre, games and parades.

As the weekend rodeo quickly approaches, contestants prepare to be named Miss Roundup Rodeo 2017.

Three contestants joined the competition this year from 19 to 23 years old, Amy Hager, Briann Grimshaw and BreAnne Pino; all looking to represent Livingston across Montana.

Amy Hager, 23, is a student at Montana State University studying business management. Daughter of Laura and Rob Hager, she is from a fifth-generation Montanan with ranching “in her blood.”

Callalily the rabbit, at the Stafford Animal Shelter, serves as a live model for young artists Carson Bekedam, 9, left, and Laine Sanders, 11, during a children’s art class in the basement room of the Livingston Center for Art and Culture, Wednesday morning. The students were creating drawings of rabbits in the vein of Beatrix Potter’s “The Tale of Peter Rabbit.” The famous children’s author used live animals to make her drawings. The Livingston Center for Art and Culture will hold a number of art camps throughout the summer for children ranging from preschool through eighth grade.

Couple perform vintage jazz and pop hits

Driving cross-country, Seattle jazz sweethearts are bringing  “vintage pop” to Livingston over the weekend.

Playing Saturday at Livingston’s UnCorked, Kate Voss and Jason Goessl — who perform as Sundae + Mr. Goessl — don’t just play music but also create an act for the audience.

Voss, 33, and Goessl, 39, developed their band two years ago and have since spent most of their time on the road.

“We consider this a full-time job,” Goessl said, saying they perform mostly in the Midwest but have begun to expand to the East Coast.
