Doris R. Mather Christie

Doris R. Mather Christie, 98, of Helena, formerly of Livingston and Bozeman, entered the awaiting arms of the Lord on Feb. 16, 2017, at Aspen Gardens Assisted Living in Helena.

Doris was born July 10, 1918 in Livingston. She was the second daughter of three born to Homer and Clarabell Mather. In her youth she preferred spending time on the family ranch in Wilsall, outdoors working with her dad and letting her sisters help out indoors with chores.

• The Bozeman Folklore Society will host a Contra Dance Friday, March 3  at the Bozeman Senior Center, 807 N. Tracy Ave.  Visit www.bozemanfolklore.org or call 581-3444 for more information. The dance will feature live music by Helena Handbasket, with caller Rosanna Finley. A half-hour beginners’ workshop starts at 7:30 p.m. and the dance begins at 8 p.m.  Families, singles and couples are welcome. Admission is $10 per person; $8 for Bozeman Folklore Society members; and $5 for Montana State University students and those 18 to 5 years of age.

• The Livingston Parks and Trails Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22 in the meeting room at the Livingston Civic Center. The agenda is posted on the City’s web site.  The committee will accept public comments on a proposal to allow dogs to be off-leash on the Bozeman Connector Trail. Charles ‘Mac’ McNab

On Feb. 16, 2017, we lost a good man, Charles McNab, better known as “Mac.”

He was born in Ontario, Canada, on Sept. 9, 1941. He went on to work 37 years in Yellowstone Park as the park-wide boiler tech. He took great pride in his job, even naming each boiler. He retired in 2012, and began Scrollworks By Mac.

Amy L. Watson

Amy L. Watson, 66, of Woodbury, Minnesota, passed away Feb. 14, 2017.

She was a former resident of Livingston and a 1969 graduate of Park High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Do Jum and Sun Guey; and brother, Robert Louie.

• The Park County Spelling Bee will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22  in the Shane Center Ballroom. Top spellers in grades five through eight from the area schools will compete for a chance to go to the state competition.  The public is welcome to attend.

You are going to have to forgive me this week. I am doing our taxes. There are stacks of papers on every flat surface in this office. I made the appointment with our accountant so I would have motivation to get them done.  So I am using something I wrote in 2010 that fits my life today and maybe yours, too.
