Chamber of Commerce has information for the traveler

Lou Ann Nelson welcomes visitors to the lobby of the Livingston Area Chamber of Commerce building at 303 E. Park St.

Nearly all travelers need information about the places they visit, and in Park County, the chambers of commerce in Livingston, Gardiner and Cooke City provide that information.

The Livingston Area Chamber of Commerce office is at 303 E. Park St., in the former crew quarters of the Burlington Northern Railroad.

Brochures are available with information on a variety of businesses and services, including local accommodations, restaurants, churches, dude ranches, fishing and moving to Park County. There is even a special flier titled, “What to Do in Livingston.”

The Livingston Chamber sponsors one of the best events in Montana — the annual July 2 Livingston Roundup Rodeo Parade.

The event opens the PRCA Livingston Roundup Rodeo, set for July 2, 3 and 4.

Each year at the parade, spectators thrill to the excitement of viewing colorful floats, polished antique automobiles, mounted riders, clowns and novelty acts.

Local and professional bands provide live music — from traditional marches to popular numbers with a driving beat — and often guest bands provide speciality music, such as bagpipes or drums and bugles.

The parade begins at 3 p.m. at the corner of South Second and Geyser streets and goes north on Second Street to Park Street. Then it goes east on Park Street and finally, south on Main Street. This year’s parade theme is “Women of the American Revolution — Wives, Sisters, Daughters.”

Entry fees apply to those wishing to be in the parade, but children in costumes or on bikes can be a part of the parade for free.

Judged float categories are Theme, Patriot and Free Style. Car entries and horse entries are also judged. Entry information is available at the Livingston Chamber office.

The chamber has maps and information on summer and winter activities in Park County as well as information about Yellowstone National Park.

The chamber office is a good place to browse and collect information about area and regional happenings.

And to see what’s going on year-round, check the calendar of events on the Chamber’s Web site at www.DiscoverLivingston.com.
