Chamber of Commerce has information for the traveler

Lou Ann Nelson welcomes visitors to the lobby of the Livingston Area Chamber of Commerce building at 303 E. Park St.

Nearly all travelers need information about the places they visit, and in Park County the chambers of commerce in Livingston, Gardiner and Cooke City provide that information.

The Livingston Area Chamber of Commerce office is at 303 E. Park St., in the former crew quarters of the Burlington Northern Railroad.

Brochures are available with information on a variety of businesses and services, including local accommodations, restaurants, churches, dude ranches, fishing and moving to Park County. There is even a special flier titled, "What to Do in Livingston."

The Livingston Chamber sponsors one of the best events in Montana - the annual July 2 Livingston Roundup Rodeo Parade.

Chamber-sponsored roundup parade

The July 2 Roundup Parade features colorful floats, antique cars, mounted riders, clowns and novelty acts, live music and the Roundup Kiddie Parade.

The parade begins at 3 p.m. at Sacajawea Park and goes north on Second Street to Park Street. Then it goes east on Park Street and finally, south on Main Street.

The event opens the PRCA Livingston Roundup Rodeo. Each year, spectators thrill to the excitement of viewing colorful floats, highly-polished antique automobiles, mounted riders, clowns and novelty acts. Area high school and professional bands provide live music - from traditional marches to popular numbers with a driving beat - and often guest bands provide speciality music, such as bagpipes or the sounds of drums and bugles.

The youngsters in the area have their very own Roundup Kiddie Parade and are encouraged to dress in costume and decorate their bicycles or wagons for the parade.

In addition to organizing the parade, the Livingston Area Chamber of Commerce has maps and information on summer and winter activities in Park County, as well as information about Yellowstone National Park.

Livingston's Chamber of Commerce center is a good place to browse and collect information about current happenings in the area and around the region.

The chamber welcomes visitors to its office. Summer office hours, from Memorial Day through Labor Day, are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekends. The chamber's mailing address is 303 E. Park St., Livingston MT 59047, and its phone number is (406) 222-0850.

E-mail the chamber at info@livingston-chamber.com or visit its Web site at www.livingston-chamber.com.
