Preying for Spring

A rough-legged hawk takes wing on Old Clyde Park Road, Friday afternoon. The hawk took up its position on telephone poles and ranch entryway structures, scanning the fields for potential prey. The rough-legged hawk commonly winters in Montana before flying north to the Arctic regions to breed in spring.
